Part 13 –
Who’s Commenting on the Narrative of Your Life?
Informed by Nehemiah 4:1-5, where unbelievers mocked the progress of Nehemiah’s men, this episode exhorts believers struggling with sin to surround themselves with spiritual saints who edify, even in their rebuke. Too often, believers, particularly those young in the faith, take the judgmental narrative of unbelieving critics to heart and become discouraged and despondent over their apparent lack of spiritual progress. “If a fox walked on top of their Christian wall, it would immediately crumble.” But this assessment contrasts sharply with that of spiritual believers, who come along to gently restore and would never condemn the halting progress of a struggling believer. The episode calls struggling believers (all of us!) to surround themselves with godly saints who embrace God’s narrative and speak it back to us as we all run the Christian race.

More About This Episode -

In this episode of “Kingdom Questions,” titled “Who’s Commenting on the Narrative of Your Life?”, host Victor Vigorito begins by encouraging listeners to send their questions about God, the Bible, and faith through his website. He addresses a significant theme relevant to starting the New Year right by focusing on the story of Nehemiah, highlighting how he faced opposition while striving to achieve his goals.

Victor discusses how we often encounter criticism and naysayers, particularly regarding our Christian walk and sanctification. He emphasizes that those who doubt your progress or question your salvation may not have an accurate understanding of spiritual growth, referencing Paul’s struggles with sin in Romans. Victor reassures listeners that if they are reading the scriptures and trying to apply them, they will eventually see progress in their lives.

The episode stresses the importance of discerning the feedback we receive from others. Victor notes that the church is filled with individuals who are also struggling and suggests that rather than allowing criticism to discourage us, we should invite people who can support us. He emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in convicting rather than condemning.

Victor points out the need to surround ourselves with encouraging and understanding believers rather than those who perpetuate negativity or judgment, using the biblical figures Sanballat and Tobias as examples of naysayers.
